Fairy Barbie Movies

When you think of fairy barbie, you probably imagine a Barbie who can fly through the sky on her magical wings and save the twinkling stars. But there’s a lot more to the world of fairies than that. They live all around us, from the trees in our yard to the flowers in the park. They also have their own language, culture, and even princesses! So in honor of all things fairy, here are some of our favorite Barbie movies that show you the magic of their world.

The 7th entry in the series and the last to be released on VHS, this movie features Barbie battling Laverna’s minions through her new wings. This time, Laverna has kidnapped mer-prince Nalu and threatened to pollute the sea with her fungual pollution if she doesn’t give them the secret location of a special immunity berry. So Barbie and her fashion assistants (and a few pegaponies) must travel to the Fairy Illuminati world to rescue him. The movie is a bit darker than previous Barbie films, but still fun and enjoyable.

This movie shows you that you don’t need a prince to have a happily ever after. After Barbie’s parents pass away, she sets out to fulfill her own royal destiny by pursuing her passions in the real world. Along the way, she meets a wise and kind mentor and her sworn enemy (who just happens to be a fairy princess). And of course, she eventually finds a guy who loves her for who she is. This is one of the first Barbie movies to have a bit more of an edge and a mature plot.

Soar into storytelling with this magnificent Barbie Fairy doll! Her translucent wings shimmer with glittery touches and whimsical details. Choose from Coral hair and wings, PINK hair and wings, or PURPLE hair and wings.

The best thing about this film is definitely the enemies-to-friends dynamic between Barbie and Raquelle. The movie opens with their petty rivalry but once they’re whisked off to Gloss Angeles, it turns into a full-on mutual respect and appreciation for each other. It’s especially nice when they’re trapped in a fairy jail together and have a refreshing heart to heart, admitting their prickliness and actually wanting to be friends. They then break the furyspheres and sprout wings, showing that forgiveness really does let you fly.

This is the first of the Barbie live-action films to be made in color, and it was also the first of the series to be filmed entirely on soundstages. While the plot is a little overshadowed by the production value, it’s still a good movie and one that’s worth watching. It has a few laugh-out-loud moments, a sweet romance between Barbie and Ken, and a great dance number featuring a living Nutcracker toy that gets shrunk to toy size at two intervals of the film. Plus, it has a cute theme song!
